CathayPlay is a hand-picked home for independent Chinese cinema, presenting films chosen one by one for their artistic integrity, social insight, and the freedom with which they speak. We bring together works that seldom appear in mainstream circulation, revealing the complexities and intimate textures of the Chinese-speaking world. Through careful selection and ongoing collaborations with filmmakers, festivals, and industry partners, CathayPlay aims to cultivate an ecosystem where independent Chinese cinema can be seen, understood, and valued by audiences around the world.
